Q: Do I need a partner to take classes?
A: No. Group classes tend to balance themselves in regards to men/women ratio and one of the critical parts of the learning is practicing with multiple partners. As such, during the class we rotate partners so everyone can dance with everyone. So, even when the gender balance is not perfect, you would not be without a partner for too long.
Q: But I want to take the class with one specific person, I don’t want to rotate.
A: That’s fine. While I believe rotating is best for learning, to rotate or not is a decision the student makes.
Q: How long does it take to learn tango?
A: As long is it takes to learn painting or sculpting. It depends on your ambitions, talent and effort.
Q: Are the classes for “beginners”, “intermediates” or what level?
A: In many dance classes, terms like “beginner”, “intermediate”, and “advanced” are used. Unfortunately, people have different definitions for what each term means so more often then not, people are in a class where they don’t meet the prerequisites. Our classes are of two types, Level 1 – “Getting Ready to Dance”, where we will direct people who are somewhat new at Argentine tango and want to become comfortable dancing in a social setting, and Level 2 – “Refining your Dance” for people already comfortable dancing socially, but want to improve their dance. The Level 2 classes are structured in such way so everyone is challenged, regardless of their level.
